As of 8am this morning, all Ontarians aged 18 and over will be eligible to receive a fourth COVID-19 vaccine dose, as long as it’s been five months since their first booster.

Ontarians who do not have underlying health issues may choose to wait until the fall to receive their fourth dose. Healthy adults continue to have strong protection from the virus more than six months after their first booster.

Currently, only those 60 and older, immunocompromised individuals, and Indigenous populations can receive a fourth vaccine dose. They have been eligible for the second booster since April 7th.

If you’d like to receive the fourth dose, contact your local pharmacy or healthcare provider.

COVID-19 transmission has been on an upswing over the past few weeks, driven by the highly infectious BA.5 Omicron subvariant, which is more immune-evasive. That means people who have recently had COVID can catch it again sooner.

The British Open begins today.

The 150th Open Championship — known outside the UK as the British Open — begins today on the Old Course at St Andrews in Scotland. It’s a record 30th time for the course that is considered the oldest golf course in the world, the “home of golf.” There are 112 sand traps on the course!

The Open wraps up golf’s major season, it is one of the four Grand Slam golf tournaments (The Masters Tournament, U.S. Open Championship, The Open Championship and U.S. PGA Championship)

The British Open winner receives what is commonly known as the claret jug but is officially named the Golf Champion Trophy. It first was awarded in 1873 and since 1928, the British Open winner gets to keep the original for one year before returning it and receiving a replica. Last years winner took home $2.07 million.

The new emojis could come soon to iOS and Android once they are approved this September.

Sunday is World Emoji Day. Why July 17th? July 17 is famously displayed on the Calendar Emoji, which is why they chose it as the date.
