The World Health Organization (WHO) on Saturday declared the monkeypox outbreak a global public health emergency.
The monkeypox outbreak has affected nearly 17,000 people in 74 countries. A surge in monkeypox infections has been reported since early May outside the West and Central African countries where the disease has long been endemic.
The first symptoms of monkeypox are fever, headaches, muscle pain and back pain during the course of five days. Rashes subsequently appear on the face, the palms of hands and soles of the feet, followed by lesions, spots and finally scabs.
With the tools we have right now, we can stop #monkeypox transmission and bring this outbreak under control. Itβs essential that all countries work closely with affected communities to adopt measures that protect their health, human rights and dignity.pic.twitter.com/DqyvRtB8w2

A ultra-marathoner from Alberta has broken the record for fastest run across Canada.
Dave Proctor of Okotoks, Alberta started at the Terry Fox monument in St. John’s, Newfoundland in mid-May, and arrived at the Terry Fox monument in Victoria, B.C., on Thursday. It beats the previous record of 72 days set in 1991.
He averaged more than 100 kilometres a day on his cross-Canada run, which took just over 67 days to complete. Along the way he picked up different running partners and had a medical team following to help when needed.
There most definitely won’t be a white Christmas in July today, but it is slightly cooler.
Environment Canada has lifted the Heat Warning for C-K. Sunshine and a high of 25 today, it’ll feel like 29 with the humidity, quite the change from last weeks low 40’s.
Sunshine Tuesday with a possibility of some rain mid-week before warming up again for the long weekend.
