According to Environment Canada, there’s a chance of some more showers and possibly a thunderstorm today, but sun and a few clouds the rest of the week.

The high this week is 27, with the humidex making it feel like it’s in the low 30’s.


The nomination deadline has come and gone for the upcoming Municipal Election.

There are 3 candidates who will run for mayor and 40 candidates for 17 councillor seats.

There will be at least three new faces around the horseshoe, three sitting councillors – Chatham Coun. Doug Sulman, North-Kent Coun. Joe Faas, and West-Kent Coun. Mark Authier – did not file for re-election.

Chatham-Kent’s 2022 municipal election is taking place on October 24th. Internet voting will be open October 3-16. Advanced voting polls will be open October 13, 14 and 15th.

Canada is golden for the 19th time at the World Juniors after a 3-2 overtime win against Finland on Saturday night.

Canada led 2-0 to begin the third period, but the Fins battled back to tie and force OT.

London Knights goalie Brett Brochu of Tilbury was Canada’s third-string goalie in the gold medal game. He didn’t play in the tournament. Windsor Spitfires captain Will Cuylle was a teammate.

The tournament is usually played over the Christmas holidays, but COVID forced organizers to postpone just a few games in.

Since 1977, Canada has collected 19 gold medals at the IIHF World Junior Championship, to go along with 10 silver and five bronze.


Canada’s National Women’s Under-18 Team completed a series sweep with a 7-2 win over the United States Saturday.

Blenheim’s Abby Stonehouse scored her first Team Canada goal in the third period.

These women will now go back to their club teams and continue to be evaluated for the Canadian team that will compete at the 2023 IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship (January 8-15, 2023) in Sweden. All players will also be considered for possible invites to future camps and events with Canada’s National Women’s Team.


Detroit’s Belle Isle Aquarium celebrated its 118th birthday last week and unveiled its new octopus tank.

The new tenant of the octopus tank needs a name!

Guests have been submitting name ideas on the Belle Isle Conservancy Instagram account, @belleisleaquarium and today the finalists will be up for a vote. The octopus a one year old male.

The Belle Isle Aquarium is America’s oldest aquarium. It’s open to the public 10-4 Friday-Sunday. Admission is free. More information is available here.
