Chatham-Kent Community Health Centres are kicking off their Winter Warm Up program.
They are looking for community members who knit or crochet. They need volunteers to create gloves, hats and headbands for those in need during the cold months. Yarn will be provided.
Contact the Community Health Centre if you would like to help or have any questions, 519-397-5455.
Family Service Kent is holding a Volunteer Showcase at Hidden Hills Golf and Country Club tomorrow 2-6pm.
With the pandemic, the last few years has had a major impact on the non-profits in Chatham-Kent. These organizations rely heavily on volunteers to provide vital services to the community.
This is a one-stop information session to show the community what volunteer positions are available.
The Volunteer Expo Showcase CK is open to anyone who is looking to volunteer.
The Royal Canadian Legion’s poppy campaign began on Friday.
For the first time ever, the Legion is distributing new biodegradable Poppies during this year’s campaign. They are crafted from a variety of natural materials including paper, cotton velvet, plaster, moss, and bamboo. It will take a few years for older stock to be depleted, but eventually all Poppies and wreaths used during the campaign will be biodegradable.
The 2022 Digital Poppy will once again be presented through MyPoppy.ca. You can dedicate a Digital Poppy and share it on your social media channels.
The annual campaign runs until Remembrance Day, with money raised by each legion branch helping veterans and their families in those communities.
#GetYourPoppy, now is the time! Don’t miss out on supporting the 2022 Poppy Campaign.

To think, we were excited with the Lotto Max got up to $70 million last week.
The Powerball draw tonight will be at an estimated $1 billion tonight.
It’s only the second time in Powerball’s 30-year history that the jackpot has hit $1 billion. The largest Powerball jackpot was $1.586 billion, which was won on January 13, 2016.
Nobody had the the winning numbers for Saturday’s nearly $825 million prize.
There are no restrictions that prohibit Canadians from playing the Powerball lottery. Tickets can be bought online.
Happy Halloween!
A longtime tradition in Canada, Ireland, the UK, and the USA. Only recently, the celebration has spread to other countries around-the-world.
Your trick or treat forecast from The Weather Network is calling for cloud and rain most of the day, but clearing around 4pm with temps at about 14 tonight.
