April 17th is the 107th day of the year. There are 258 days remaining until the end of the year.

There is a swab clinic at St. Clair College today.

The goal is to find a potential donor for Zoe Dudzianiec, a 7 year old girl who has a rare disease called Diamond-Blackfan Anemia, which is a very rare bone marrow disorder with no cure.

The clinic will be held at the Chatham Campus of St. Clair College 10-2pm. The swabbing event will be held in the lobby of the main building

Zoe has been getting treatment since birth and must receive 10 hours of medical treatment every day. Zoe also gets blood transfusions every 10 days at Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto because the blood she requires is not available to her in the Windsor area anymore.

Zoe needs someone who shares her Middle Eastern/European ethnic background to donate stem cells to save her life.

If you can’t make it to the clinic today, you can sign up here to become a stem cell donor.

After last weeks record setting temperatures, Environment Canada is calling for cooler, seasonal temperatures this week.

Sunday began National Volunteer Week across Canada.

It is a time to celebrate and thank Canada’s 24 million volunteers.

The National Volunteer Week theme for 2023 is Volunteering Weaves Us Together. This reveals the importance of volunteering to the strength and vibrancy of our communities through the interconnected actions we take to support one another.

The United States beat Team Canada 6-3 to take gold at the Women’s World Hockey Championship in Brampton.

It’s the first world title for the U.S. since 2019 and the first time they have beaten Canada in the final at the worlds since 2017.

Canada and the United States have met in every world championship gold-medal final since the tournament’s inception in 1990 except for 2019, when the U.S. defeated Finland and Canada settled for bronze.

The NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs begin tonight.
