Gateway Casinos and Entertainment says all locations across Ontario will remain closed for the coming days as work is done to restore their IT systems.

Over the weekend, the company detected a cyber security incident and closed operations in Ontario. Cyber professionals who are working 24/7 to help restore the systems.

The casino on Richmond Street in Chatham is one of several locations across the province that are impacted, including London, Sarnia, Clinton and Woodstock.

The curtain closed on Broadway’s longest-running show Sunday.

After 35 years and nearly 14,000 performances, the final performance of Phantom of the Opera happened over the weekend. It was show number 13,981 at the Majestic Theatre.

Andrew Lloyd Webber took to the stage last in a black suit and black tie and dedicated the final show to his son, Nick, who died last month.

Fans can always catch the Phantom elsewhere. The flagship London production celebrated its 36th anniversary in October, and there are productions in Japan, Greece, Australia, Sweden, Italy, South Korea and the Czech Republic. One is about to open in Bucharest, and another will open in Vienna in 2024.


The world record for the farthest flight by paper airplane has been broken.

The new record is 289 feet, 9 inches (88 meters), nearly the length of an American football field and was set by three aerospace engineers from Boeing. They beat the previous record of 252 feet, 7 inches (77 meters) achieved on April 2022 by a trio in South Korea.

The team put in nearly 500 hours of studying origami and aerodynamics to create and test multiple prototypes.

On its record-breaking distance flight the plane was in the air for roughly six seconds. The Guinness paper plane record for duration of flight is currently 29.2 seconds.
