The Ford government announced the location of a new provincial park on Saturday.

An urban provincial park will be designed in Uxbridge, in the Durham Region, located to the northeast of Toronto and will be designed to incorporate hiking and birdwatching.

It’s still unclear what exactly the park will look like as the government will be working on a feasibility study and consultations in the months ahead. The proposed urban park may include up to 532 hectares of provincially owned lands which will be 50% larger than New York’s Central Park. This will be the first new operating park to open in 40 years, it will include up to 250 camping spaces.

Ontario has 115 operating provincial parks, brining in 12 million visitors last year.


The Toronto Raptors fired Head Coach Nick Nurse on Friday.

Nurse had lead the Raptors for five seasons and brought Toronto their only NBA championship in 2019.

Toronto failed to make the playoffs and finished ninth in the Eastern Conference, losing to the Chicago Bulls in the NBA play-in tournament.

Nurse will remain the head coach of the Canadian national team. He signed a contract extension two years later that runs through the 2024 Paris Olympics.


The Sarnia Sting will face Highway 402 rival the London Knights in the OHL Western Conference Championship Series beginning Friday in London.

It’s the first time in franchise history, the Sarnia Sting have advanced to the Western Conference Finals. The Knights last time was 2016.

It’ll be just the second time ever in their histories that they’ll meet in the post-season. The first and only time was back in 1999.

A license plate has sold for almost $21 million Canadian at a charity auction in Dubai.

The plate simply read “P7” The sale of the vanity plate smashed the previous record of 52.2 million dirhams ($19 million CAD) in February 2008 at an auction. The auction house specializes in cars and license plates, and buyers can bid on distinguished number plates in the United Arab Emirates.

Guinness World Records has not confirmed the new record.

The license plate auction benefits the charity 1 Billion Meals Endowment, founded by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai, to bring food to communities struggling with food insecurity around the world.
