France is the first country in the world to ban domestic flights where cities are linked by train with travel time of two and a half hours or less.

This is being done to fight climate change. It means that flights between Paris, Nantes, Bordeaux and Lyons will be shut down.

To put it in perspective, flights between Toronto and Hamilton, as well as between Kitchener and Waterloo would be banned if this were adopted in Canada.
