For the first time since 1954 a Canadian has won the RBC Canadian Open.
Nick Taylor made a 72 foot putt on the 4th playoff hole to give Canada a win for the first time in 69 years in the national men’s golf championship. Taylor was born in Winnipeg, and now lives in Abbotsford, B.C.
The last player from Canada to win the Canadian Open was Pat Fletcher in 1954 at Point Grey in Vancouver. Fletcher was born in England; Carl Keffer had been the only Canadian-born champion, winning in 1909 and 1914. Mike Weir lost a dramatic three-hole playoff in 2004 to Fiji’s Vijay Singh.
Nick won $1.62 million.

An odd moment during the NBA game on Friday when former UFC champion Conor McGregor knocked out the Miami Heat mascot.
Burnie, actually the guy who wears Burnie’s costume, needed medical attention after taking two punches from McGregor during a third-quarter stoppage. The employee, who was not identified, received pain medication and was resting at home.
The mascot was wearing boxing gloves and a robe, took a McGregor left hook, knocking him down, then another punch after he hit the floor. McGregor then tried to “spray” the mascot with the pain-relief product, while the in-game promotional team dragged Burnie off the court.
McGregor was there as a promotional gimmick for a pain-relief spray — and was booed by the Miami crowd.

McDonald’s is celebrating Grimace’s birthday today with a new purpleshake.
You can order a Big Mac or 10-piece Chicken McNuggets with fries and a limited-edition purple shake “inspired by Grimace’s iconic color and sweetness.”
We all know and love the big purple Grimace, but what is he exactly? He is from Grimace Island and comes from a spectacularly huge family, which includes his Grandma Winky, aunts Millie and Tillie and, of course, Uncle O’Grimacey, who was once the Shamrock Shake’s mascot. Through Grimace lore it is believed that he is a taste bud, but McDonald’s has never confirmed that, only saying, “He is an enormous taste bud, but a taste bud nonetheless.”
Grimace is turning 51 by the way.
