Our first heat wave of the year continues today, with a slight dip over the weekend.

Environment Canada is calling for sunshine and a high of 33C (91F) today. Sun for Saturday and a high of 31. Early next week it’ll “cool” off to about 23.

The 2023 Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix is this weekend.

The 3-day race weekend takes begins today, with four different series racing on the Downtown Detroit street track.

The Detroit-Windsor Tunnel and the Ambassador Bridge will remain open all weekend. If you do need to use the tunnel, it will be open, but you need to have a placards displayed on your vehicle. They can be downloaded and printed from the Tunnel’s website www.takethetunnel.com.

The Special Events Tunnel Bus will only operate a short route between the Transit Terminal in Downtown Windsor and the Detroit Tunnel Plaza.


The Lotto Max jackpot is at $70 million.

Tonight’s draw also includes 10 MAXMILLIONS each worth $1 million.

Tickets are available online or in store until 10:30pm on draw nights; Tuesday & Fridays.

Speaking of $70 million – the search continues for the unclaimed $70 million LOTTO MAX ticket from the June 28, 2022 draw. The winning ticket will expire on June 28, 2023, unless the rightful ticket holder comes forward to OLG before then. The ticket was purchased at an authorized lottery retailer in Scarborough.


Today is Donut Day. It falls on the first Friday in June every year.

In 1938, Donut Day was established as a way to honour the members of the Salvation Army that came to the aid of soldiers during World War I. The “Donut Lassies” would fry up donuts in a war helmet, frying up 7 at a time.

Tim Hortons brought back the Walnut Crunch and the Cherry Stick on Wednesday for a limited time.
