November 1st is the 305th day of the year. There are 60 days remaining until the end of the year.


Chatham Goodfellows are back, for the 69th year, to make sure No Child Goes Without a Christmas.

They will begin accepting applications today from existing clients online at ChathamGoodfellows.ca.

New client applications will open by phone next Monday, November 6th.

Couple of other important dates to remember this season:

  • November 6 – First-time Applications: Must apply by phone. Applications close: Friday, December 1.
  • December 4 – Porchlight Campaign: Residents are asked to donate money, toys or food when a volunteer comes to their door, or reach out to the Goodfellows at 519-354-1146 to arrange pick up.
  • December 15-16 – Street Sales of Goodfellows Newspaper: Volunteers will fan out across Chatham to collect donations for copy of annual Goodfellows newspaper.
  • December 11-14: Toy Packing at former Monsignor Uyen school, 255 Lark St.
  • December 18 – Basket delivery.

Today is the start of Movember.

Men are encouraged to grow moustaches for the month to raise funds and awareness for all the dads, brothers, sons and friends in their life.

Originally a prostate cancer initiative, it has expanded to include testicular cancer and also mental health and suicide prevention.

Daylight Saving Time ends this weekend as we fall back an hour, officially at 2am Sunday morning.

The C-K Fire Department reminds us that we should use the end of daylight saving time to change the batteries in our smoke alarms.


Gas prices are expect to drop today.

The average price at the pumps in Ontario will fall 4 cents per litre today down to 151.9.

Locally, as of 5:30am: in Chatham 147, Wallaceburg 154.9, Blenheim 149.9 and Tilbury at 147.3.
