The Polar Plunge in support of the Special Olympics Ontario is Saturday at the Sons of Kent.
Temperatures are around freezing for tomorrow when the first plungers hit the water at 2. The second round jump at 6.
The goal this year is $50,000. Register or donate at PolarPlunge.ca and come out to support. If it’s just too cold for you to jump in, use the Too Chicken to Plunge option, and jump in the hot tub.
There’s a blood donor clinic Saturday at the St. Clair College Healthplex from 10-2pm.
No walk-in appointments are available. Book your appointment at Blood.ca, call 1-888-2-DONATE or use the apps.
If you’re unable to donate this Saturday, the next clinic locally will also be at the Healthplex on Tuesday next week.
The Chatham-Kent Barnstormers will play their first ever game on the road in Brantford to open the 2024 season.
The IBL revealed its schedule for the season on Wednesday.
The Barnstormers will open the season in Brantford on May 17th against the Red Sox. The first game at Fergie Jenkins Field will be the next day, Saturday, May 18th against the Kitchener Panthers.

This will be the 105th season of the Intercounty Baseball League (IBL).
Costco is testing out a system that requires members to scan their membership cards at the store entrance — instead of just flashing the card to employees.
Since Costco expanded their self-checkouts, they’ve noticed an uptick in non-members sneaking in with membership cards that don’t belong to them. They just recently started asking for membership cards with a photo ID at the self-checkout registers, the same policy as regular checkout lanes, to crack down.
Costco believes this will also speed up the check out process.

The lip balm flavors include Hidden Valley Ranch, Buffalo Sauce, Crunchy Celery, and Fresh Carrot. A four-pack costs $11.99.
The collaboration was inspired by an April Fools’ Day joke a couple years ago, but people were enthusiastic about it, so they made it happen.
