March 20, 2024
March 20, 2024 5:55 amMarch 20th is the 80th day of the year. There are 286 days remaining until the end of the year.
Spring is officially here, arriving at 11:06 p.m. last night, but you’ll still need your winter coat for awhile..
Environment Canada Meteorologist Geoff Coulson says, “…we’re now pulling in a more Arctic air mass from northwestern Ontario. That’s actually going to be with us through the rest of the work week and probably into the weekend as well.”
Highs this week will be right around the freezing mark. The normal temperature for this time of year is 7C. Temperatures will rise next week but we could also see a mix of rain and snow.
Coulson also said it’s still a little too early to take off the winter tires and habits may need to be adjusted for winter driving conditions this week.
It’s Movie Night at the Capitol Theatre.
Tonight at 7pm stop by to see The Holdovers.
Admission is $7 or flash your movie pass for entry. Check here for more info.
Canada’s population will hit another milestone in April.
According to Statistics Canada, the population should hit 41 million sometime next month. Canada hit the 40 million mark in June 2023. Canada’s record-high population growth continues due to permanent and temporary immigration.
Ontario remains the most populated province, with 15,969,695 people; followed by Quebec, with a population of 9,027,430; and B.C., with 5,635,231. Nunavut is currently the smallest, with a population of just 40,975.
Check out Statistics Canada’s population clock, tracking real-time data. The tracker measures the changes by taking into account the rate of births, deaths, immigrants, emigrants, non-permanent residents and inter-provincial migrants.
