Environment Canada has issued a Heat Warning for Chatham-Kent and Southwestern Ontario.
With the humidex, temperatures will feel like they’re in the 40’s. There will be little relief at night as minimum temperatures are expected to be near 20 degrees Celsius.
Extreme heat can affect everyone’s health. Environment Canada urges people to drink plenty of water regularly, even before they feel thirsty to decrease their risk of dehydration, limit direct sun exposure, and never leave people, especially children or pets, inside a parked vehicle.
There’s a blood donor clinic today at the St. Clair College Healthplex 1-8 p.m.
No walk-in appointments are available. Book your appointment at Blood.ca, call 1-888-2-DONATE or use the apps.
If you’re unable to donate this week, the next clinic locally will also be at the Healthplex on July 27th.
Tours of the historic Chatham Courthouse and Jail are being held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays until the end of August at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m.
Ticket prices are $20 for all ages, plus HST fees.
They say these kinds of things happen in threes:
Richard Simmons passed away on Saturday, a day after his 76th birthday. There’s no word on the cause of death. He did say in a social media post back in March that he was dying, though.
Shannen Doherty lost her battle with cancer on Saturday. She was only 53 years old. Shannen was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. Last year she announced it had spread to her brain.
Sex expert Dr. Ruth Westheimer died Friday. She was 96 years old. Before her time as a media icon, she was actually a sniper for the Israeli military.
A busy weekend for the Chatham-Kent Barnstormers and they are rolling with a 4 game win streak.
The Barnstormers will host the London Majors Tuesady at 7:35 p.m. and then won’t be home again until July 28th.
