It was 23 years ago today, in 2001, at 8:46 A.M. and 9:03 A.M., two hijacked planes were crashed into the World Trade Center.
In the early morning of September 11, 2001, 19 terrorists hijacked four commercial airliners scheduled to travel from the East Coast to California. The hijackers crashed the first two planes into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City. The third team struck the Pentagon, in Virginia, and the fourth plane crashed in rural Pennsylvania during a passenger revolt. The attacks killed 2,977 people and injured thousands more.
Last night’s Mega Millions lottery jackpot had one winning ticket in Houston.
The winner has the option to choose between annual payouts totalling $800 million or a one-time cash payout of $404.2 million. Texas laws allow winners of prizes over $1 million to remain anonymous.
The next Mega Millions drawing is Friday, September 13th with the jackpot back to $20 million.
It’s the end of an era: Campbell Soup is over, in name, at least. They just announced that they’re planning to drop the “Soup” and re-name themselves “The Campbell’s Company.”
The CEO said, “Today we’re so much more than soup.” The idea is that they have a whole bunch of brands and products now, like Pepperidge Farm breads, crackers, and cookies, Pace salsa, Prego and Rao’s sauces, Snyder’s pretzels and Kettle potato chips. They specifically mentioned Goldfish crackers, which they also own. They expect Goldfish snacks to become their largest brand by 2027.
They’d like to use the Campbell’s name across more of that, to expand the company’s umbrella beyond just “soup.” Soup is still a very important and valuable part of their business, so they definitely aren’t phasing it out.
The name change isn’t official yet. Campbell Soup is a public company, so the re-brand will have to be approved by shareholders.
