A harvest moon, a supermoon and a partial lunar eclipse will occur this evening.

The full Harvest Supermoon will occur tonight at 10:35. Called the Harvest moon because the natural light allowed ancient farmers to continue harvesting until late into the evening, nowadays the lights of their combines help get the work done.

There will also be a partial lunar umbral eclipse. The moon will pass through Earth’s umbral shadow (One of the three distinct parts of a shadow: umbra, penumbra and antumbra) between 10:14 p.m. and 11:16 p.m. The maximum umbral eclipse will occur at 10:45 p.m., when 8% of the lunar disk will be in the shadow of the Earth.

The “North Pole” of the Moon will pass in the shadow of the Earth and will appear black. The rest of the Moon will appear normal but less illuminated, because it will be in the penumbra (second shadow) of the Earth.

For the first time ever the Lotto Max jackpot for tonight’s draw is $80 million.

Earlier this month, the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation announced that it was increasing its top Lotto Max jackpot from $70 million to a maximum of $80 million. There were no winners for Friday’s $75 million jackpot, so tonight someone could make history. The top Lotto Max prize will reset to $10 million once there’s a winner. The odds of winning the main jackpot are 1 in 33.2 million per $5 play.

There will be an estimated 18 $1 million MAXMILLIONS prizes.

Tickets are available online or in store until 10:30pm on draw nights.

Elon Musk set to become the world’s first trillionaire by 2027.

The 53-year-old is currently the world’s richest person with a net worth of US$251 billion according to Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index.

Musk’s wealth has been growing at a staggering average rate of 110 per cent a year — meaning that should the Tesla CEO’s wealth continues to climb at the same rate, he could be crowned the world’s first trillionaire within the next three years.

Guatam Adani from India would be second in line to achieve trillionaire status after Musk in 2028, if his annual growth remains at 123%.

The World Jigsaw Puzzle Championships are underway in Spain.
