The Learning, Earning & Living CK Career Expo and Job Fair is today at the John D. Bradley Centre.

Over 50 local employers will be on site with a variety of job opportunities. Bring your resume, and be prepared to interview on site.

The job fair is open 3-7:30 p.m. Check out LivingCK.ca/CareerExpo for more info.


The Chatham Goodfellows are getting set for their 70th year of providing food and toys to children and their families during the holidays.

Last year, No Child Without A Christmas supported 1600 families with food and gift baskets. The organization raised over $228,000.

The former Monsignor Uyen school will be used for packing and distribution again this year.

Some key dates for the 2024 campaign:

  • November 1 – Online Applications for those who have applied in previous years.
  • November 4 – First-time Applications: Must apply by phone. Applications close: Friday, November 29.
  • December 2 – Porchlight Campaign: Residents are asked to donate money, toys or food when a volunteer comes to their door, or reach out to the Goodfellows at 519-354-1146 to arrange pick up.
  • December 13-14 – Street Sales of Goodfellows Newspaper: Volunteers will fan out across Chatham to collect donations for copy of annual Goodfellows newspaper.
  • December 9-12: Toy Packing at former Monsignor Uyen school, 255 Lark St.
  • December 17 – Food packing and delivery takes place.

Saturday is CHiRP Day in C-K!

Firefighters from all 19 fire stations, along with community partners will be taking to the streets, knocking on doors, and visiting homes to check your alarms.

Book a CHiRP Check by visiting CKFire.ca or calling 311.

During a CHiRP Home Alarm Check, firefighters visit your home to ensure your smoke & carbon monoxide alarms are working, correctly located & not expired. Have alarms that need replacing? We can help with that too.

If you see a fire truck on your street, come over for a truck tour from one of the firefighters.


The Detroit Free Press Marathon is this weekend.

The race takes place on Sunday. The International Half and Marathon start at 7 and the U.S. Marathon starts at 10:30 a.m.

The Detroit-Windsor Tunnel will be closed to traffic from 6:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. on Sunday.

The Ambassador Bridge will remain open to race runners and both commercial and passenger vehicles during the race. The bridge should be cleared of runners by 9:30 a.m.

This is the 47th marathon, it is sold out and will include a record attendance of over 26,000 competitors.


Coats, sweaters and short sleeves this weekend across Chatham-Kent.

Frosty mornings will be replaced with highs in the low 20’s through the weekend and into next week.

Sunny and a high of 17C today, 19 tomorrow and 21 on Sunday. Jumping up to 23C back to work on Monday. Our next chance for rain is an outside shot Tuesday night.
