October 28, 2024
October 28, 2024 5:55 amOctober 28th is the 302nd day of the year. There are 64 days remaining until the end of the year.
A cool start today with temperatures around 5C, but picking up later today and peaking Tuesday and Wednesday this week according to Environment Canada.
A warm front moves in and temperatures will jump to 26C for the next couple of days. Unfortunately, that will be gone by the time we go Trick or Treating. Thursday is expected to be rainy and windy with daytime highs at 24C, but cooler in the evening. Still better than last year when we saw a few flurries.
There’s a blood donor clinic tomorrow at the Ken Houston Memorial Agricultural Centre in Dresden 2-7 p.m.
No walk-in appointments are available. Book your appointment at Blood.ca, call 1-888-2-DONATE or use the apps.
If you’re unable to donate this week, the next clinic locally will be at the St. Clair College Healthplex next Tuesday (November 5) 1- 8 p.m.
p.m.
Christ Church will stand vigil at the downtown Chatham cenotaph on November 10 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Remembrance Day November 11 between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. Christ Church Chatham is organizing the vigil to show respect for those who served Canada.
Anyone interested in taking a shift can call Christ Church at 519-352-1640. The list is almost full and the one hour shifts will likely be reduced to half hour watches, but citizens are still welcome to volunteer.
Remembrance Day services at the cenotaph are on November 11 at 11 a.m.
Apple will release iOS 18.1 today.
The first version of its iPhone operating system with Apple Intelligence — their first attempt at AI.
The update is expected to include enhanced writing tools and a new Siri user interface, among other features. You will need to have an iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 16, however, to access all the new functionality.
The latest update is expected to be released at 1 p.m.
It’s a great day for couch potatoes.
Today is believed to be the 30th (or 31st, depends who you ask) Sports Equinox ever. That means there is an NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL game all played on the same day.
Tonight there are…
11 games in the NBA
8 games in the NHL
1 game in the NFL
1 game in the MLB
Just the way the calendar has worked out, we’ve had a Sports Equinox each of the last 10 years.
