November 27th is the 332nd day of the year. There are 34 days remaining until the end of the year.

Today’s the day!

The CKSY Christmas Doesn’t Have to Stink fundraiser is back, supporting the Chatham Goodfellows.

We need your help to fill hampers with deodorant, soap, body wash, shampoo and toothpaste to make sure No Child Goes Without a Christmas.

Drop off your donations this morning from 7-9 am at CKSY (117 Keil Dr in Chatham)

Every donation gets a ballot for a chance to win a $500 Visa card from Drew Walker at Optimize Wealth Management.

It’s Movie Night at the Capitol Theatre.

Stop by tonight at 7 p.m. to see The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Admission is $7 or flash your movie pass for entry. Check here for more info.

Tomorrow is American Thanksgiving.

Friday is Black Friday, many offline and online stores offer big sales for their customers.

This Friday is also Buy Nothing Day, which has been around since 1992. Instead of Black Friday shopping, you’re supposed to spend no money at all, and go do something fun that’s free.

Saturday is Small Business Saturday, which began as a marketing initiative to entice people to “shop small” and support local businesses during the U.S. Thanksgiving weekend.

Monday is Cyber Monday when online retailers offer discounts and Tuesday is Giving Tuesday when you’re asked to donate to your favourite charity.

Heads up if you’re planning to do any travelling this week. The Transportation Security Administration is projecting the U.S. Thanksgiving will see 31 million travelers.

Today will be the busiest day to fly, followed by Sunday with travellers returning home— with more than 3 million passengers expected on each day. The best day to drive is tomorrow. There’s usually not a ton of traffic on Thanksgiving itself.

A lot of the headaches come at security, because people don’t know what to pack.

Turkey and stuffing are allowed in carry-on bags. So are pies and cakes, because they’re considered solids. But no gravy or mashed potatoes because they’re considered a liquid.

Dictionary.com just announced that their Word of 2024 is “demure,” which became a popular meme on TikTok.

They picked it over other viral sensations, like “brat,” as in “brat summer”, “brainrot,” which is “an inability to think clearly caused by excessive consumption of low-quality online content” and “weird.”

Dictionary.com said demure had a “meteoric rise in usage” this year, especially this summer. It was up 1,200% between January and August.

Their word of the year last year was “hallucinate.” That’s a reference to the rise of chatbots and A.I. that can often derail and spur misinformation.
