It’s American Thanksgiving Day.

Always celebrated on the 4th Thursday of November; it’s been a statutory holiday since 1879.

Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is scheduled to take place today. Heavy rain is expected but the wind is not expected to be strong enough to impact the balloons. Balloons are grounded when the gusts hit 34 mph. The parade will take place rain or shine.

One of the best Thanksgiving traditions is the NFL football games today.

Game one is the Detroit Lions hosting the Chicago Bears at 12:30. The last time the Lions won on Thanksgiving was in 2016. Grammy-nominated musician Shaboozey will perform at halftime.

The New York Giants will be in Dallas to play the Cowboys at 4:30, followed by the Miami Dolphins and Green Bay Packers at 8:20.

This will be the second year with a game on Friday, the Las Vegas Raiders will play the Kansas City Chiefs on Amazon Prime Video at 3 p.m.

You may get a chance to see the Northern Lights tonight and tomorrow.

According to the space weather forecast from the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), a geomagnetic storm watch has been issued for Thursday and Friday.

A geomagnetic storm can occur when an eruption of solar material arrives at Earth. The NOAA has classified the geomagnetic storm as minor for tonight and moderate for Friday.
