Discover Blenheim this weekend.

Stop by Talbot Trail Place on Saturday between 8:30-1 p.m. and pick up your map, then go on a Christmas treasure hunt to see some artisans, makers and creators in Blenheim. They will have their displays in either a studio, garage or even outside. At each location, the participants will have a free draw just for stopping by. Most locations open 9-2 p.m.

There is no cost to attend.


Links of Kent is hosting a Holiday Market this weekend.

Everyone is welcome Saturday from 2-6 p.m. for vendors, food and more.

Entry is free, a donation to the Chatham Food Bank is encouraged.


The final Household Hazardous Waste Day for 2024 is next week.

Hosted by the Municipality of Chatham-Kent and Waste Connections of Canada Ridge Landfill.

The drop off is Tuesday at Veolia Environmental, at 141 Prosperity Way from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Residents can safely dispose of household hazardous material at no charge. A list of acceptable material can found here.


Monday is Remembrance Day.

Here’s a list of what’s open and closed:

Schools, grocery stores, and retail stores will be open. The LCBO and The Beer Store will be regular hours.

Banks and Federal offices will be closed. There will be no mail delivery on Monday.

Municipality of Chatham-Kent offices and some services will be closed Monday in recognition of Remembrance Day.

CK Public Health, EarlyON programs, museums, CKTickets box office, Entegrus and libraries will be closed.

Garbage and recycling pickup will not be affected. All leaf and yard depots and transfer stations will be open regular hours. All arenas will be open.

All Ride CK Transit services will be operating on Monday.


Elwood Edwards passed away on Tuesday after a long illness. He was just one day shy of his 75th birthday.

You may not know his name, but you know his work. He was AOL’s “You’ve Got Mail” guy. Elwood was paid $200 back in 1989 to record four lines: “Welcome”, “You’ve Got Mail”, “Files Done”, and “Goodbye”.

Elwood worked for many years as a graphics and camera operator at the local Cleveland TV station WKYC. He was also seen in 2016 working as an Uber driver.
