Environment Canada‘s Extreme Cold Warning remains in effect today.

Clouds for today with a high of -11C, the windchill will make it feel like -30 this morning, by far the coldest we’ve seen in a long time. Today should be the last of the arctic blast, as temperatures warm up before the weekend.

We’re not alone with the winter weather: Florida is under a Winter Storm Warning due to heavy snow. Jacksonville is expecting disruptions and dangerous driving conditions. One to three inches of snow is being forecast for much of the Florida Panhandle.

Texas and Louisiana are also dealing with snow and frosty temperatures.

A rare planetary alignment continues tonight until Saturday.

Four planets are visible in the night sky immediately after sunset, with Venus and Saturn in the southwest, Jupiter high in the southeast and Mars in the east.

The best time to look is about 45 minutes after sunset, for about three hours. According to NASA “These multi-planet viewing opportunities aren’t super rare, but they don’t happen every year, so it’s worth checking it out.”

There are two other planets in the night sky, though neither is bright enough to be without a telescope. Neptune is just above Venus and Saturn, while Uranus is just above Jupiter.

Netflix is raising their prices again.

The monthly cost of the cheapest plan – the standard plan with ads – is going up by $2 to $7.99 per month. The standard plan without ads will increase by $2.50 per month to $18.99 while the premium plan jumps $3 per month to $23.99.

The new prices take effect immediately for new subscribers, while existing members will see the change on their next bill.

Netflix says, “As we continue to invest in programming and deliver more value for our members, we will occasionally ask our members to pay a little more so that we can re-invest to further improve Netflix.”

Prices last went up in Canada in 2022.

The Detroit Lions have lost a big piece of their coaching staff; Offensive coordinator Ben Johnson has agreed to become the Chicago Bears head coach.

This will be the first head coaching job for the 38-year-old Johnson, who was widely considered the top candidate on the market after spending the past three seasons as the Lions offensive coordinator under Dan Campbell.

Now that guy that helped elevate quarterback Jared Goff’s game and implemented an exciting offense, will be coaching in the same division.
