The first blood donor clinic of the year locally is today at the St. Clair College Healthplex, 1-8 p.m.

If you’re unable to donate this week, the next clinic locally will also be at the Healthplex on Saturday, January 25th, and in Dresden at the Ken Houston Memorial Agricultural Centre on January 28th.


The Chatham-Kent Public Library hosts Movies @ Your Library every Tuesday at the Chatham branch.

Bright Lights Windsor flips the switch off tonight.

The annual light display at Jackson Park in Windsor will wrap up at 10 p.m. The free daily event opened on November 28th.

It will take a couple weeks for dismantling and cleanup before the park fully reopens in early February.


The Consumer Electronics Show opens today in Las Vegas. It’s known as The World’s Largest Tech Show.

CES, the consumer electronics industry’s largest annual gathering is a four-day event heavily focused on integrating artificial intelligence into just about any product you can imagine.

The weirdest gadgets unveiled so far include a robot vacuum that picks up dirty socks, a stringless guitar, a high-tech spoon that makes stuff taste saltier and electric rollerblades.


Tomiko Itooka, the world’s oldest person passed away in December at the age of 116 Japan.

Itooka, known for her love of bananas, had a sprightly spirit and a passion for volleyball.

A soccer-loving nun from Brazil is now the world’s oldest living person at nearly 117 following the recent death of a woman from Japan. Sister Inah Canabarro was so skinny growing up that many didn’t think she would survive childhood. She is the second oldest nun ever documented, after Lucile Randon, who was the world’s oldest person until her death in 2023 at the age of 118.

Inah now ranks as the 20th oldest documented person to have ever lived. The list is topped by a Frenchwoman who died in 1997 at the age of 122.
