Environment Canada has lifted the Extreme Cold Warning, but that doesn’t make it any less cold.

Sun, cloud and a chance of flurries today with a high of -7C, it’ll feel like -25 this morning. Temperatures start to warm up on Thursday, and on Friday will return to more seasonal conditions.

It’s local hockey playoff season.

The Provincial Junior Hockey League regular season is over and the playoffs have already started.

The Walpole Island Wild opened the playoffs last night with an 7-1 loss to the Essex 73’s.

The Tilbury Bluebirds are still waiting to find out who their first round playoff opponent will be.

The Chatham Maroons regular season in the GOJHL will wrap up on Sunday, March 9th at Chatham Memorial Arena.


The World’s Ugliest Dog Contest has been canceled and will not take place at this year’s Petaluma Fair.

The event is usually a highlight of the fair, drawing headlines all over the world. There has been a change in organizers and they will instead focus on traditional exhibits like livestock shows.


The Italian chemist who’s credited with inventing Nutella passed away on Valentine’s Day.

His name was Francesco Rivella, and he’d been in the sweets business since 1952, when he began working at Ferrero, the Italian chocolate company.

Francesco was considered the “Father of Nutella,” and played a “crucial role” in perfecting the recipe. He also came up with the name. It was first introduced in 1964. World Nutella Day, which was celebrated on February 5th.

Francesco lived to be 97 years old.
