The Monday after we spring ahead for Daylight Saving Time is the worst Monday of the year for accidents.

According to the Detroit Police Department they studied their own records and found that at least 200 more accidents will occur today than on a normal Monday.

Observing Daylight Saving Time year-round would prevent 195 motor vehicle deaths and 171 pedestrian fatalities.

Saturday was International Women’s Day, part of Women’s History Month.

International Women’s Day was first suggested at a 1910 women’s conference in Copenhagen by activist Clara Zetkin. The first “IWD” was observed in Germany the next year.

It’s a national holiday in China and Russia, where female workers are presented with flowers and gifts.

Today is Mario Day.

We celebrate Mario Day on March 10 each year, because March 10, written as “Mar10”, looks like Mario’s name.

The mustached Mario character was initially released by Nintendo in 1985, although he first appeared in Donkey Kong in 1981. Since then, Mario has appeared in around 200 different games, and the Mario games have claimed the title of the best selling video game series in history.

Mario fans have been celebrating this date for decades, Nintendo jumped on in 2016 when they began promoting new and old games, offering special deals and discounts, and started hosting Mario-themed events, as well as promoting sales on some of their games.
