CKRecreation is offering some free swim sessions today in Wallaceburg and Blenheim.
At the Blenheim Gable Rees Rotary Pool there’s a free swim on today, 2:30-4 p.m. and 5:30-7:30 p.m.
At the Wallaceburg Sydenham Pool there’s a free swim today 2:30-4 p.m.
The municipality is also offering free public skating at local arenas: today in Dresden at the Ken Houston Memorial Agricultural Centre 11:30-1 p.m., at the Tilbury Arena 11:30-1 p.m., and at Chatham Memorial Arena 1-2:30 p.m.
U.S. President Donald Trump has backtracked on doubling tariffs that were to come into effect this morning on Canadian steel and aluminum to 50% after Ontario Premier Doug Ford agreed to suspend an electricity surcharge to three states.
A 25% tariff on steel and aluminum with no exceptions or exemptions went into effect for Canada and U.S. trading partners at midnight, March 12th according to the White House.
President Trump reiterated his desire to see Canada become “our cherished Fifty First State.”
On Monday, Premier Ford announced a 25% surcharge on the electricity Ontario sends to three U.S. states, including New York, Michigan, and Minnesota. Ontario currently supplies electricity to about 1.5 million homes and businesses in the three states. Ford has suspended the surcharge after agreeing to meet with a U.S. Secretary in Washington, D.C., tomorrow.

FIFA unveiled a new theme song for the games being played in Toronto for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The track is titled Toronto Theme x FIFA World Cup 26. The theme doesn’t have any words, but is a mix of musical styles that represent the city’s music culture.
Toronto will host six games at the tournament, while Vancouver is the lone other Canadian host city and is hosting seven games. Fourteen other cities across the United States and Mexico will host a combined 104 tournament matches.
The first game in Toronto will be on June 12 at BMO Field.
