Heads up the Gable Rees Rotary Pool and Wallaceburg Sydenham Pool closed for Victoria Day.

The Dresden Agricultural Society has a busy weekend at the Dresden Raceway!

The ATV Rodeo is on Saturday. Gates open at 8 a.m., 9:30 start time.

Sunday is the Demolition Derby. $20 per person, 10 and under are free.

The Chatham-Kent Barnstormers begin their second Intercounty Baseball League season on Saturday.

Season kicks off against the Kitchener Panthers at Fergie Jenkins Field at 7:05 p.m. on Saturday. The Barnstormers will travel to Kitchener on Sunday.

It’s Victoria Day Weekend.

It’s a holiday that’s only celebrated in Canada and it’s often referred to as the unofficial kick off to Summer.

The holiday has been observed in Canada since at least 1845, originally falling on Victoria’s actual birthday, May 24, 1819. The holiday always falls on the Monday between the 18th to the 24th.

Victoria Day is a federal statutory holiday, and a holiday in six of Canada’s ten provinces and all three of its territories.

LCBO and most Beer Stores will be closed on holiday Monday. The Richmond Street location is the only local Beer Store that will be open locally, from 11-6 p.m.
