It’s RetroFest weekend in Downtown Chatham.

The action gets underway tonight with the Parking Lot Party behind the Retro Suites Hotel. There will be live music in Tecumseh Park on Friday from 4 p.m. until 11 p.m.

The car show is on Saturday beginning at 7 a.m. on King St. There will be entertainment in Tecumseh Park all day, and fireworks at 9 p.m.

New this year is an admission fee of $2 to enter the park, but kids 12 and under are free.


Donors are needed!

There’s a blood donor clinic tomorrow at the St. Clair College Healthplex from 10:30 to 2:30 p.m.

A busy weekend for the Chatham-Kent Barnstormers.

The Barnstormers on on the road tonight to play the Hamilton Cardinals at 7:35 p.m. before two games at home on Saturday and Sunday.

The Brantford Red Sox will be at Fergie Jenkins Field Saturday at 7:05, and the Guelph Royals Sunday at 2:05.

The Indianapolis 500 is Sunday. Known as The Greatest Spectacle in Racing; 33 drivers, 200 laps, 500 miles (804+ KM) and 300,000 fans at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The race is always held on Memorial Day weekend, a tradition that dates all the way back to 1911, except for a few years during World War I and II, it’s run every year since. Sunday will be the 109th running of the Indy 500.

Starting in the 8th position will be Danish driver Christian Lundgaard, one of his spotters, Jeff Gotelaer is from Ridgetown.

It is a tradition for the winner to drink a pint of milk at the end of the race. The 2025 Indy 500 is scheduled to start at 12:45 p.m. on Fox. Pre-race coverage begins at 10 a.m.


Later today at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Oscar Mayer will hold the Weenie 500.

All six Oscar Mayer Wienermobiles will take part in the race to see which one is the fastest. The Wienermobiles are named Chi Dog (Midwest), New York Dog (East), Sonoran Dog (Southwest), Slaw Dog (Southeast), Chili Dog (South) and Seattle Dog (Northwest). The race will be streamed live on the Fox Sports app.

During the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday race fans will consume 30,000 hot dogs.
