Apple is changing how it names its operating systems, starting with a major update coming in September for the iPhone.
Instead of increasing the version number, Apple will name the iPhone operating system by year. The naming change will apply across all Apple products, including the iPad and Mac. Currently Apple is using iOS 18, now instead of the next update being iOS 19, which would logically follow, Apple is instead going to call the update iOS 26.
Tech insiders are saying it would also make sense for Apple to follow the same year-based numbering for iPhone. An iPhone 26 that launches with iOS 26 would make more sense. In 2020, Samsung began naming its Galaxy phone line after the year of launch.
During Netflix Tudum 2025: The Live Event on Saturday, we got another sneak peak at Adam Sandler’s Happy Gilmore 2.
This will be a sequel to the 1996 original, “The movie itself picks up from an older guy who played golf a long time. Some stuff goes on in his life, and he’s different — he’s a bit of a mess,” Sandler said. “And then we try to get his life cooking again.”
Happy Gilmore 2 premieres on Netflix July 25.
