It’s the 59th birthday of the Slurpee. In 2021, Winnipeg was named the Slurpee Capital of the World. In fact, Winnipeggers drink the most Slurpees each year of any city—not just in Canada, but in the entire world. And not just this year either; Winnipeg has been crowned the Slurpee capital of the world by 7-Eleven.
Random Fact: 7-Eleven got its name from its original hours in 1946. It was open from 7am to 11pm. They didn’t start staying open 24 hours until the 1960’s.
