If you can get away from the city lights, you could get a good look at the Perseid Meteor Shower over the next few weeks. Stargazers call it one of the year’s most spectacular sky events.

The Perseids are debris from Comet Swift–Tuttle blazing through Earth’s orbit. As our planet plows through this cosmic dust, those particles burn up in our atmosphere, lighting up the sky with streaks of light you can see with your bare eyes.

The shower officially kicked off last week but it will continue to ramp up in intensity over the next few weeks. Now until around July 28th there should be just a few meteors an hour, there will be more meteors in mid-August, but the moon will make them tougher to see. During the peak, you might see up to 50–100 meteors per hour.

World #1, Scottie Scheffler won the title Champion Golfer of the Year after winning the 153rd Open Championship.

The next major will be The Players Championship in March of 2026.
