A heads up, if you take Lacroix Street- a section of the road, will be closed overnight for the next week.

Lacroix Street will be closed from Thursday July 3 to Thursday July 10 from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. daily.

All lanes will be closed between Park Avenue West and Spencer Avenue at the CN Railway crossing underpass. Traffic will have access up to the work zone.

The Gordie Howe International Bridge has marked another milestone as it nears its planned completion in the fall.

The pair of massive cranes used to construct the international crossing have been decommissioned, making it look a lot less like a construction site.

The project team recently announced that “After five years, the two massive tower cranes on either side of the Detroit River are retiring from the Gordie Howe International Bridge project.”

The cranes were installed over a three-day process in 2020 and used to assist in the construction of the bridge’s support towers, which top out at 220 metres tall above the Detroit River.

The new title-holder for the longest cable-stayed bridge span in North America is scheduled to open in the fall of 2025.
