The Toronto Blue Jays have won 10 in a row. It’s just the sixth time in franchise history they’ve won that many in a row.

The Jays are first in the American League East with a record of 54-38 after a win in Chicago last night. The last time the Blue Jays had this many wins before the all-star break was in 1985 and 1992, the year they won their first of back-to-back World Series titles.

The franchise record is 11 wins in a row, and they go for that this afternoon against the White Sox.

Travelers will no longer have to remove their shoes at the airport when going through security.

The security screening mandate was put in place almost 20 years ago, after a shoe bomber attempt to take down a flight in late 2001.

The United States Transportation Security Administration announced that the change was taking effect immediately for airports across the U.S. on Tuesday.

Today will be 1.3 milliseconds shorter than normal.

The rotation of the Earth will speed up slightly today. The earth actually speeds up and slows down depending on a few things. The biggest factor is how far away the Moon is. Scientists are attributing the acceleration to various factors like changes in the atmosphere and melting glaciers. This change may affect satellite systems and GPS accuracy. The Earth takes 24 hours, or 86,400 seconds, to complete one full rotation.

But according to calculations, today won’t even be the shortest day of 2025. July 22nd will be 1.38 milliseconds shorter than normal, and August 5th will be the shortest day of the year at 1.5 milliseconds shy of a full 24 hours.

The shortest day ever recorded was last year; July 5th, 2024 was 1.66 milliseconds shorter than normal.

Billions of years ago, experts think the average day was only 19 hours long because the Moon was closer.
