Spotify announced this week that it’s rolling out direct messages between users.
The feature is available to both free and premium subscribers as part of an effort to attract more users. Spotify used to have a similar messaging feature but it was removed in 2017 over low engagement.
The DM feature allows people to share Spotify content and react with text or emojis. Users have the choice to accept or reject message requests from friends and family.
The early response to this has been underwhelming among users.
Thousands of people took part in the 80th anniversary of Spain’s famous “Tomatina” tomato street fight yesterday.
The town of Bunol brings in 120 tons of overripe tomatoes, buildings are covered in tarps and a crowd of up to 22,000 participants have a massive food fight. Non-locals pay 15 euros ($17.50CAD) for a ticket and come from across the globe.
Always held on the last Wednesday of August, the event was inspired by a food fight between local children who pelted each other with tomatoes in 1945. The tomatoes are grown specifically for the festival and are not used for food.
There’s only one rule: To avoid injuries, participants are encouraged to squash the tomatoes before hurling them (and of course, refrain from hurling anything else).
