Chatham-Kent Barnstormers second baseman Evan Morrison was named the IBL Rookie of the Year on Monday.
The Brian Kerr Memorial Trophy is given to the league’s top rookie. Morrison’s .422 batting average was tops in the IBL. Morrison added four home runs, 23 runs batted in (RBIs), and 12 stolen bases.
In just two IBL seasons, the Barnstormers have won two major end-of-year awards; Seth Strong was named league MVP in 2024.
Speaking of baseball, the Blue Jays booked their ticket to the playoffs with a win on Sunday.
Now you can get your ticket to watch them in the playoffs at the Rogers Centre. Blue Jays’ post-season tickets will go on sale Thursday.
The final standings will determine which games in the first two rounds are played on home turf, at the moment the Jays will get a bye into the second round with home field advantage. Playoff home dates will be announced at a later date, and fans will be refunded for any games that don’t get played. Toronto starts a three-game series with the Boston Red Sox tonight.
Next Wednesday (October 1) the Chatham-Kent Museum, Kiwanis Theatre, and Thames Art Gallery will open their doors to the community for a Chatham-Kent Arts and Culture Open House at the Chatham Cultural Centre from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This event will showcase the programming opportunities available across the venues.
Visitors can check out interactive activities, exhibitions, and behind-the-scenes tours. Admission is free, and all ages are welcome.
A pastor’s on TikTok has predicted the Rapture will occur today or tomorrow. This has sparked a flurry of fear with people believing the end of the world is upon us.
A viral video circulating on social media claims the Rapture, a Christian belief relating to the end of times, will take place this week. A South African preacher, shared his “divine prophecy” on YouTube, stating that Jesus appeared to him in a vision and revealed the exact date of his return, which coincides with Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year (September 22-24, 2025)
Comments on TikTok show people are quitting their jobs and selling off their worldly possessions. There are also many asking if their pets will be able to follow them to Heaven as they leave their lives behind. Many others are giving tips and tricks to enhance their Rapture experience, like: “When you finally start moving up into the air, I recommend that you don’t hold on to anything, I definitely don’t recommend looking down.”
