October 2nd is the 275th day of the year. There are 90 days remaining until the end of the year.

Water restrictions have been  lifted in Chatham-Kent following repairs to the Chatham Water Treatment Plant.

The plant had electrical and backup generator problems in late September, and at the time, the municipality asked all customers to conserve indoor and outdoor water usage and eliminate outdoor water use.

The Chatham Water Treatment Plant is once again distributing water at full capacity.

One of the most pupular race days of the season is this weekend at the Leamington Raceway.

The 9th Annual Weiner Dog Races will be held on Sunday.

Post time for the first horse race of the day is at 1 p.m., and admission and parking are free. The wiener dog races will be on the track after Race 8, most likely around 3 p.m.

The Detroit Tigers will have to play a winner take all Game 3 this afternoon in Cleveland, after the Guardians took Game 2 6-1. First today is at 3:08 p.m.

The Dodgers won and advance to the next round, while San Diego and New York pushed their series to a Game 3 too.

Major League Baseball has announced the schedule for the first two games of the Blue Jays American League Division Series.

If Boston wins its series against the New York Yankees, Toronto begins the playoffs Saturday against the Red Sox at 1:08 p.m. Should New York advance, the Blue Jays will take on the Yankees on Saturday at 4:08 p.m. In either scenario Game 2 is set for 4:08 p.m. on Sunday.

Toronto earned a bye to the Division Series by clinching the AL East and the American League’s top seed with a win on the final day of the regular season.

Peavey Mart is making a comeback. But for now, it’ll be quite a drive.

Four locations in Alberta will reopen in the late fall. On its website, Peavey says it wants to reopen between 7-12 shops; Saskatchewan would be next.

Peavey Mart was started in 1967 but closed all its stores earlier this year (including the Chatham location). A new company run by a group of investors bought the rights to the name and intellectual property in hopes to revive the retailer.

We have a Fat Bear Week winner: A grizzly bear named Chunk.

He managed to get himself nice and fattened up for winter despite a broken jaw. It’s his first win after narrowly finishing in second place three previous years.

The annual online competition allows viewers to follow 12 bears in Alaska’s Katmai National Park and Preserve on live webcams and cast ballots in a bracket-style, single-elimination tournament that lasts a week. Chunk — known officially as Bear 32 — beat out Bear 856, who doesn’t have a nickname, in the final bracket.

Chunk’s weight was estimated at 1,200 pounds by contest organizers.
