The second of three supermoons in 2025 is set to reach its peak illumination this morning.

Known as the Beaver Moon, the full moon that occurs in November is expected to be the biggest and brightest looking moon of the year. The full moon will reach peak illumination at 8:19 a.m. this morning.

A supermoon occurs when a moon’s full lunar phase coincides with the closest point in its orbit around Earth, known as the perigee. This type of lunar alignment is quite rare, only happening three or four times a year. We will see the third and final supermoon of the year on December 4th.

A supermoon is obviously not bigger, but it can appear that way, making it a popular sight for skywatchers.

It was Election Day in the U.S. on Tuesday.

Detroit has a new Mayor. City Council President Mary Sheffield will take the roll and be the first woman to lead the city.

Sheffield defeated Rev. Solomon Kinloch in yesterday’s general election. She will take office in January and succeed three-term Mayor Mike Duggan who announced last year that he would not seek reelection.

The U.S’s largest city, New York, has a new Mayor too. Zohran Mamdani was elected Tuesday. He’s just 34 years old. He becomes the city’s first Muslim mayor.

In Kentucky, voter turnout was stronger than expected, particularly since Kentucky wasn’t holding elections.

Kentucky Secretary of State Michael Adams put out this statement: “We’re getting calls about polls being closed. They are closed because we do not have elections today. Kentucky votes NEXT year . . .You cannot vote today in Kentucky for the mayor of New York City or the Governor of Virginia. Sorry.”

Kraft is selling apple pie-flavoured mac and cheese this holiday season.

Kraft says, “[It’s] the comforting taste you love, now with a shockingly delicious savory and sweet pairing. It’s packed with cheesy, apple-y, cinnamon-y goodness. Each box includes sauce mix with seasoning, so you just need milk and margarine or butter.”

You won’t see it in stores, or in Canada. It’s an online exclusive at Walmart.com that’s only available for a limited time.
