December 1st is the 335th day of the year. There are 30 days remaining until the end of the year.

The Chatham Goodfellows’ annual Porchlight Campaign is tonight.

Hundreds of volunteers will go door to door, seeking donations to ensure their slogan stays true, “No Child Without a Christmas.” The volunteers will wear their red Goodfellows aprons, flip your porch light if you have a donation on and expect to see them knocking on your door anytime after 5:30 p.m.

More information and how to volunteer, go online to chathamgoodfellows.ca.

The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation Igniting Healthcare Holiday 50/50 has kicked off its third annual lottery.

Tickets are on sale now. There will be a couple of Early Bird draws this week (December 2 & 4) worth $1,000. The grand prize draw will take place on Tuesday, January 6th.

This year’s lottery supports Mammography Services at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA). Updated imaging technology will help improve early detection, reduce downtime, and decrease the need for repeat scans or follow-up procedures, while providing faster, clearer results that help patients feel more confident and supported throughout the screening process.

Tickets are $10 for 5 tickets, $20 for 20 tickets, $50 for 150 ticket or $100 for 500 tickets. Get your tickets here, or in-person at the Foundation office at 9 Ursuline Avenue in Chatham.

The Old Farmer’s Almanac has released their Christmas 2025 forecast.

In Canada, snow will be on the ground (or at least in the air) for Christmas week in Southern Ontario, Southern Quebec, the Prairies, and Southern British Columbia, as well as way up north in the Yukon and Northwest Territories.

As for Christmas Day itself, Southwestern Ontario is on track for a White Christmas.

Today is Cyber Monday. The biggest online shopping day of the year.

Its creation was no accident. According to research and analysis, there were noticeable increases in online spending on the Monday after the U.S. Thanksgiving, on November 28, 2005, a press release said: “Cyber Monday Quickly Becoming One of the Biggest Online Shopping Days of the Year.”

But are we even waiting for Cyber Monday to spend online anymore??

Americans set a new record for online shopping on Black Friday $11.8 billion. That’s up about 9% from $10.8 billion last year.

The peak was from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, when $12.5 million was spent per minute. Americans also spent $6.4 billion online on Thanksgiving Day.

More than half of those online sales happened on phones this year. And it looks like in-store sales continued to trend down.
