The Friday before Christmas is the busiest travel day of the year.

Estimates say close to 171,000 people expected to arrive or depart from Toronto Pearson Airport. And almost 3.2 million people will hit the airport over the holidays.

Flights out of Detroit Metro Airport will also peak today. An estimated 1.5 million passengers will be flying through DTW from now through January 1st.

Arrive early! Make sure your passport and other documents up-to-date and don’t wrap gifts because they’ll have to be unwrapped. Be sure to check with your airline if there are any delays or cancellations.

Tomorrow is Super Saturday.

It’s the final Saturday before Christmas, and one of the biggest shopping days of the year. It’s when a lot of people realize, “Oh… I still need gifts,” and head out for last-minute shopping.

Stores are usually packed, hours are extended, and there are plenty of deals aimed at procrastinators. For retailers, it’s a crucial day to finish the holiday season strong — and for shoppers, it’s the final push before Christmas morning.

159 million consumers are planing to shop on Super Saturday. Good luck finding a parking spot.

Winter begins Sunday at 10:03 a.m. It’s the shortest day of the year for anyone living in the Northern Hemisphere.

We should get 9-9.5 hours of sunlight.

After Sunday, the days start getting longer. The amount of daylight begins to increase.

The first day of spring is Thursday March 20th.
