5 Things You Need To Know For December 2, 2025
December 2, 2025 5:55 amDecember 2nd is the 336th day of the year. There are 29 days remaining until the end of the year.
A layer of snow on the ground this morning.
We could see some more snow fall this morning, once the snow moves out, the rest of the day will be dry, but we will keep the cloud cover around.
Today’s high is 1C, but the windchill will make it feel like -8. The rest of the week will be below freezing.
The Coca-Cola Holiday Caravan rolls into Chatham tonight.
The Coca-Cola Holiday Caravan is brightly lit Coke truck that travels across various communities, bringing holiday cheer, a visit from Santa Claus, festive activities, and complimentary beverages.
The first stop is at Sobeys in Chatham tonight from 5 -7 p.m.
It will return next weekend and visit Dresden, Wallaceburg, Pain Court and Blenheim.

The Chatham Goodfellows Porchlight campaign was a success last night.
Volunteers were spread throughout the community collecting cash, toys and food to make sure No Child is Without a Christmas this season; just over $53,000 in cash was collected this year!
The Porchlight fundraiser is important because it helps purchase vital items for the food hampers that are given to families in need, like turkeys, hams and bags of milk.
You can still donate by mailing a cheque to P.O. Box 114 Chatham ON N7M 5K1 or by e-transfer at donate@chathamgoodfellows.ca to receive an automatic receipt.
The annual Goodfellows newspaper Street Sales are next weekend (December 12 & 13) outside of local businesses supporting the campaign. For more information or to volunteer go to ChathamGoodfellows.ca.
Oxford Dictionary‘s Word of the Year for 2025 is “rage bait.”
They define it as, “online content deliberately designed to elicit anger or outrage by being frustrating, provocative, or offensive.” It’s being used three times more than it was a year ago, but it’s not a new term. The first recorded use was over two decades ago.
Someone used it in a forum in 2002 to describe the feeling of someone tailgating you in traffic and flashing their lights to let them pass, like they’re trying to give you road rage.
“Rage bait” was one of three words that made their shortlist this year. The other two were “biohack” and “aura farming.”
Biohacking is when you “attempt to improve or optimize [your] physical or mental” health using things like drugs, supplements, and new technology.
Aura farming is when you cultivate an “impressive, attractive, or charismatic persona” online to “convey an air of confidence, coolness, or mystique.”

Today is Giving Tuesday.
The Tuesday after Thanksgiving is Giving Tuesday — a day for people to give back to their communities. For some people, that means donating to a charity or cause they support. For others, it means volunteering their time or skills. It can even be as simple as leaving a thank-you note for a delivery driver or paying for the coffee of the person in line behind you.
Today marks the 13th anniversary of the first Giving Tuesday in 2012. More than 85 countries are involved now. It is predicted that almost $3.5 billion will be given today.
Locally you can donate in support of Mammography at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance and your donation will go twice as far thanks to the James A. Beattie Foundation. Donate before 11:59 p.m., and they will match your donation dollar for dollar (up to a total of $20,000).
