January 20th is the 20th day of the year. There are 345 days remaining until the end of the year.

It’s the coldest morning we’ve had this season in Chatham-Kent.

The windchill has it feeling like -25°C this morning, later today Environment Canada is saying we’ll see some sunshine, but it will not be warming up. A high of -12°C today, but it’ll feel like -20°C.

Wednesday is a high of -2°C before cooling off again for the weekend.

The Chatham-Kent Public Library hosts Movies @ Your Library every Tuesday at the Chatham branch.

Stop by today to see What Men Want starring Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon.

Movies start at 2 p.m.

Nine new emojis are coming, but one of them might still change.

The Unicode Consortium decides which emojis to add, and they quietly posted a list of nine new ones late last year. But they’ve got another meeting this week, and it looks like one of them might get replaced.

“Face with Squinting Eyes” wason the list. But it might get knocked out by a “Cracking Face” emoji that looks like shattered glass.

“Squinting Eyes” could mean something’s small and you can’t see it. Or, it could mean you’re suspicious and taking a closer look at something.

The “Cracking Face” emoji is supposed to mean you’re damaged – physically or emotionally, but you made it through, and you’ll be okay. They expect people to use it sarcastically too.

They’ll decide which one they’re adding this week. But the other eight emojis sound like they’re pretty locked in.

The other eight are: Left Thumb, Right Thumb, Monarch Butterfly, Butterfly Net, Lighthouse, Eraser, Pickle and one that looks like a world-ending Asteroid.

Once they decide the final nine they probably won’t be released until early 2027.

Sphere Entertainment is plans to open another theatre in Maryland.

The National Harbor, Maryland Sphere will feature the same high-tech immersive experiences as its Las Vegas counterpart:

  • Exosphere: A massive LED exterior that can display visuals across the building.
  • Interior Display: 16K x 16K resolution wraparound screens.
  • Sound System: Immersive audio for concerts, events, and VR-like experiences.
  • Haptic Seating: Seats that react to the action on-screen.
  • 4D Effects: Environmental effects like wind, scent, and motion to enhance the experience.

This would be the second U.S. Sphere, following Las Vegas. There are plans for a Sphere in Abu Dhabi.

The very first Booster Juice drive-thru location has opened in Canada, and it’s in Lakeshore.

The new spot on Amy Croft Drive is serving about 70% of orders through the drive-thru, as customers look for quick and convenient options, especially in cold weather.

The company says this won’t be the last drive-thru, but the first of many.
