It might be -15 (with the windchill) today, but we’re talking about baseball!

This season will be the 50th for the Toronto Blue Jays. The team unveiled a commemorative anniversary logo and patch that will be worn throughout the 2026 season — on jerseys and hats.

The design blends the Jays’ past and present, featuring vintage turquoise, royal blue, modern red, and the original split font – in use since the team’s 1977 debut.

There will be recognition and celebrations all season at the Rogers Centre with new historical displays, and more. The team will officially mark the 50 season milestone during the home opener on March 27th.

Life is slowly returning to normal in Russia’s far east after what residents are calling a snow apocalypse. A powerful cyclone dumped record snowfall on the Kamchatka region, burying homes, blocking roads, and disrupting public transport.

It’s the regions biggest snowfall in 60 years, dropping more than two metres (6 1/2 feet) of snow so far in January, that is on top of nearly four metres (13+ feet) in December — creating massive snowdrifts that have buried cars and blocked building entrances.

Photos and video show people walking on top of snowbanks beside at the same height as traffic lights, some have posted videos of jumping out of second floor windows and landing safely on the snow drifts. One resident said her car has been stuck in a snowbank for a month — so walking is now the easier option.

Back here at home, slightly warmer temperatures today according to Environment Canada.

Today’s high is 0°C, but the windchill will make it feel like -15°C this morning. But it’s the snow that will be the issue today – we’ll see some start to pile up this morning with a chance for 5cm (2 inches) by early this afternoon.

Sunshine returns tomorrow, but so does the extremely cold temperatures.
