Ontario Premier Doug Ford saind on Monday that he plans to strip the Canadian whiskey from the shelves of the LCBO in retaliation for a planned plant closure in Amherstburg.

Diageo announced in August it would end operations in Amherstburg because of global restructuring. Bottling at the factory intended for the U.S. market will move south, while bottling for Canadian consumers will relocate to Quebec.

Ford said he would remove Crown Royal from the LCBO, but said other Diageo products, including Gordon’s Gin, Smirnoff Vodka and Guinness, would stay, for now.

The plant is scheduled to close next month.
