Environment Canada has issued a yellow fog advisory for Chatham-Kent.

Dense fog throughout the morning, with poor visibility. If driving, turn on your lights, slow down and maintain a safe following distance.

Cloudy skies and rain for today with a high of 6°C. More rain tomorrow before temperatures cool off, with some snow on the weekend.

The Ontario Provincial Police have issued a warning about dangerous ice conditions as temperatures rise above freezing.

Police say ice is constantly changing and unpredictable. Clear blue ice is strongest, while white ice with air bubbles and black, decaying ice are much weaker. As a general rule, you need at least four inches to walk on ice, four to seven inches for a snowmobile, and eight to 12 inches to support a vehicle. If you fall through, try to pull yourself back to where you broke through and roll to safety — don’t stand up.

If you see someone on unsafe ice, call 911 immediately.

There’s a new bill in the U.S. House of Representatives that proposes making “half-daylight saving time” permanent instead of the current system of switching clocks twice a year.

Under this plan, clocks would stay 30 minutes ahead of standard time year-round — halving the change rather than eliminating it entirely. Supporters of the bill say it could reduce health issues and confusion tied to the spring/fall clock changes, while still giving more evening daylight. Critics argue it could disrupt early morning light in winter and create new scheduling headaches.

The bill would need approval from both Congress and the president before becoming law.
