The war in Iran is driving another spike in energy prices, and that’s causing gas prices at the pumps to soar.

Experts are seeing indications pointing to an 8 cent a litre increase at the pumps by Wednesday morning.

A popular spring tradition in Stratford is taking a break this year.

The city has cancelled the annual Swan Parade, which normally takes place the first Sunday in April and draws crowds to watch the swans waddle from their winter quarters to Lake Victoria.

City officials say the birds will now be returned to the lake when conditions are right, based on water levels, weather and mating patterns. The goal is to reduce stress on the swans during their seasonal return to open water. Usually a pipe and drum band would lead the procession and crowds would gather to watch them as they are released into the water.

Today is Mario Day.

March 10th — or MAR10 — looks like the name Mario, which is why fans of the famous video game character celebrate it today.

The mustached Mario character was initially released by Nintendo in 1985, although he first appeared in Donkey Kong in 1981, where he was originally called “Jumpman.” Since then, Mario has appeared in around 200 different games, and the Mario games have claimed the title of the best selling video game series in history.

Mario fans have been celebrating this date for decades. Nintendo jumped on in 2016 when they began promoting new and old games, offering special deals and discounts, and started hosting Mario-themed events, as well as promoting sales on some of their games.
