5 Things You Need To Know For March 18, 2026
March 18, 2026 5:55 amMarch 18th is the 77th day of the year. There are 288 days remaining until the end of the year.

Cold start to the day, but slightly milder temperatures on the way.
Some sun today with the temperatures right around 2°C, but still a lot cooler with the windchill.
Noticeably warmer tomorrow, rising to 8°C before hitting 10°C over the weekend.

The Blenheim Blades season is over. The Blades fell 3-2 to the Lakeshore Canadiens on the road.
This is the third consecutive season the Blades have been eliminated in the second round.
The Chatham Maroons are up 2 games to none in their first round series against the St. Thomas Stars. Chatham won game two 5-4 in overtime on the road last night. Game 3 is Thursday at Memorial Arena Chatham.

The Government of Ontario is going BYOB.
Starting April 30th you will soon be able to bring your own booze to certain outdoor gatherings; like farmers’ markets, movie nights, festivals, and community events — but there are a few conditions.
Municipalities must first approve it through a bylaw, and event organizers will still need permits from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario. Right now, this type of “bring-your-own” setup is mainly limited to tailgating at sporting events.
The province says the change will help save attendees money and boost local tourism and economies.

There is some March Break ice time available to go for a free skate today:
- Tilbury Memorial Community Centre, 11 – 12:30 p.m.
- Ken Houston Memorial Agricultural Centre, 2:30 – 4:00 p.m.
Bothwell, Dresden and Wallaceburg will host free skating sessions on Thursday. Click here for a full schedule.

Scientists say the so-called “old person smell” is actually a real thing.
Dermatologists say it comes from a compound that starts showing up more in your skin after about age 40 as natural antioxidants decline. The scent is often described as musty or like old books, and because it’s oil-based, it can stick to skin and even clothing.
The good news — it’s not about hygiene. It’s a completely normal part of aging. Experts say certain soaps with ingredients like persimmon extract may help reduce it – but there’s no magic fix yet.
