North Korea held their parliamentary elections this week, and the results are raising some eyebrows.

State media says turnout was 99.9%, which isn’t surprising because voting is mandatory. Leader Kim Jong Un received 99.3% of the vote, that number is unusually low.

It’s the first time since the 1950’s that any measurable number of people voted against the regime, or at least the first time it’s been acknowledged publicly. With an estimated 18 million eligible voters, that 0.07% “no” vote could mean around 12,000 people.

Now, elections in North Korea don’t work like most democracies — there’s no opposition, and ballots aren’t secret.

Today is the final full day of Winter. Spring will officially arrive tomorrow at 10:46 a.m.

According to Environment Canada we could see some rain this morning, then sun and cloud this afternoon with a high of 9°C. Sun, maybe some rain tomorrow before sunshine and a high of 18°C on Saturday.
