5 Things You Need To Know For March 25, 2026
March 25, 2026 5:55 amMarch 25th is the 84th day of the year. There are 281 days remaining until the end of the year.

If you need gas, today is the day to get it.
As reported yesterday, gas has dropped 13 cents/litre today. The average in Chatham this morning is about 162.7/litre.
If you don’t get it today, expect to pay more tomorrow when it rises 7 cents.

The Canada Strong Pass is back this summer.
This is the second year the Canada Strong Pass has been offered for Canadians to discover the country.
From June 19 to September 7th the pass will offer:
- Free admission to all national parks, national historic sites and national marine conservation areas under Parks Canada.
- Kids aged 17 and under can visit national museums for free as well as get free general admission to provincial museums and galleries.
- VIA Rail offers children 17 and under free train travel along the entirety of its routes, coast-to-coast, when accompanied by an adult.
- 25% discount on VIA Rail train journeys for young adults aged 18 to 24
- 50% off the cost of admission to national museums for young adults 18 to 24; same for participating provincial galleries and museums.
- 25% off camping fees at sites administered by Parks Canada.
There is no actual “Canada Strong Pass” or registration required — just show up at participating locations. You can use the pass as much as you like and you don’t even have to be a Canadian citizen to use it. Check here for more information.

All the Maroons can do is wait.
Chatham finished off the St. Thomas Stars Friday and swept the first round of the GOHL playoffs 4-0.
The Maroons will play the winner of the Stratford-London series. That series is going to a game 7 tonight. The second round will start this weekend.

Cool start to the day here at home, but a massive heat dome is scorching parts of the U.S., breaking March records in 14 states.
Arizona hit 112°F, shattering the previous March high by 4 degrees. Much of the southern and central Plains will see 90s°F this week.
While that historic heat wave is rolling across the U.S. and will push warmer air northward, Chatham-Kent won’t benefit. We’ll see a relatively mild early‑spring warm-up but not the extreme, heat like some in the U.S. states are getting.

The Toronto Blue Jays will be back on the field on Friday to begin the MLB season, and there will be a new voice on the mic this year.
Joe Siddall has been picked by Sportsnet to be the new colour commentator. He’ll call 125-130 games alongside voice Dan Shulman. Longtime analyst Buck Martinez announced his retirement in February, after being with the team since 1981.
The 58-year old Siddall is from Windsor and played parts of four seasons for the Montreal Expos, Florida Marlins and Detroit Tigers.
