The Blenheim Blades have advanced to the second round of the PJHL playoffs for the third consecutive season.

They’ll visit the Lakeshore Canadiens for Game 1 of their best-of-seven semifinal Friday at 7 p.m. Game 2 is Sunday at Blenheim Memorial Arena at 7 p.m.

Both teams had identical 30-10-2-0 records, tied for second place in the regular season, but the Canadiens won the tiebreaker.


Paper report cards could soon be making a comeback in Ontario schools.

The Ontario Minister of Education Paul Calandra says the province is working to make student report cards available in paper format again, alongside the digital versions many schools currently use. Right now, most boards send report cards through online portals or password-protected emails.

The province says the goal is to give parents simpler access to information about their child’s progress, after concerns that some families struggle with multiple logins and systems.


The 2026 World Baseball Classic officially started last night.

The tournament features baseball’s biggest stars representing their home countries.

Team Canada will open competition Saturday, March 7 against Colombia, followed by games vs. Panama (March 8), Puerto Rico (March 10) and Cuba (March 11). All of Canada’s games will be in San Juan, Puerto Rico and broadcast on Sportsnet.


Loblaws is freshening up the look for some of its No Frills and Shoppers Drug Mart locations across Ontario.

The idea by Loblaws is to modernize and expand its footprint in the province, with redesigned stores aimed at improving the shopping experience. They will invest heavily in both renovations and new store builds this year.
