April 1st is the 91st day of the year. There are 274 days remaining until the end of the year.

It’s Movie Night at the Capitol Theatre.

Stop by tonight at 7 p.m. to see Singin’ in the Rain.

Today is the first day of a six day launch window for Artemis II, NASA’s 10-day mission to the moon – The first crewed mission since the Apollo missions more than 50 years ago. Forecasters say the weather should cooperate.

After a day in orbit around Earth, their Orion capsule will propel them to the moon and back. There are no stops — just a quick U-turn around the moon. The flight will end with a splashdown in the Pacific.

Jeremy Hansen and Jenni Gibbons are members of the Artemis II mission. Fifty year old Hansen is from London, and will serve as the mission specialist. Gibbons, 37, from Calgary will serve as Hansen’s backup in the unlikely event he can’t fly; she has gone through years of the same training and during the mission will serve as a voice link to space from Earth.

NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover and Christina Koch will also be aboard the Orion spacecraft.

Today marks the 50th anniversary of Apple, founded in 1976 by college dropouts Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak.

The company’s very first product, the Apple I, was a far cry from today’s sleek devices — it didn’t come with a monitor, keyboard, case, or even a power supply.

Buyers got a single circuit board… and a price tag of $666.66.

From those humble beginnings in a California garage, Apple has grown into one of the most valuable companies in the world — shaping everything from personal computing to the smartphones we rely on today.

Not bad for a couple of dropouts with an idea.

We’ll have the opportunity to see April’s Pink Moon tonight.

Peak illumination is expected at 10:12 p.m. The moon will appear bright and full on both April 1 and April 2, rising in the east around sunset and setting in the west around sunrise. It is the first full moon of spring and symbolizes growth and rebirth.

The Pink Moon is a name for the full moon that occurs in April. This moon was named for the time of year it appears bringing spring blossoms – it doesn’t actually appear as a shade of pink.

Today is April Fools Day.

Many say the custom of playing practical jokes on this day originated with the reform of the calendar when New Year’s Day was moved from April 1st to January 1st. Those who clung to the old New Year’s Day were scoffed at as ‘fools’ and sent fake party invitations and prank gifts.
